FAC Numbers: FAC 1 - The Factory

I've always wanted to present the Factory Records numbering system with notes on the importance of each number.  If you don't know what Factory Records was, you're probably lost, but, nevertheless, Factory was the record label of Joy Division, New Order, Durrutti Column, Happy Mondays, Section 25, Quando Quango, Railway Children, etc.  Managed by Tony Wilson, each piece of significant output was assigned a FAC number.  These items includes albums, singles, videos, and, as with below, event and posters.

FAC 1 was attached to the piece of artwork below as well as their respective listed events.  The label took their name from the industrial nature of Manchester where it was formed.  Hence the iconic "Use Hearing Protection" logo below.  The label not only produced albums, but also ran weekly nights at local clubs under the Factory name.  Four events are listed on the poster below.

I think I could spend two weeks in Manchester in 1978 if it meant I got to see The Durritti Column, Cabaret Voltaire and Joy Division.
