Video Disco: The Names - Nightshift

Today we touch on the Names, a Belgian band signed to Factory's Benelux label in the late 70/80's.  The Names were formed in 1978 and would probably be more influential if they weren't from Belgium.  The Names' debut video for Nightshift was released in 1979.  Martin Hannett produced this single along with their debut album.

As always, for the record, I am a Names fan.  I greatly enjoy their music, but 80's music videos were ridiculous.  Enjoy!

:12 - Zoom in with blue lights!

1:13 - You're post punk so you probably shouldn't be seen outdoors in the daytime.  "Everyone else in the band please wear black so I can stand out more" sincerely Michael Smordynia (front man/vocalist).

General Observation: I love how Michael is given clothes that stand out for the video (white shirt and red? pants) during the scenes that look like they were filmed in a basement with the rest of the band wearing really plain colors.

1:33 - People watching the video: "You're not zoomed in enough, zoom in more!"
